BJFU has adopted a full range of measures to promote international cooperation and has been listed among the signature universities entitled to government grants for its graduate students to attend overseas education programs. Cooperative relationships have been entered between BJFU and over 170 universities, research institutes and NGOs from about 30 countries/regions. In addition to the cooperative undergraduate program (in turf-grass science) jointly offered with the MSU in the US, BJFU also offers a series of short- or long-term student exchange programs with other universities in Canada, the US, Finland and others. In 2007, BJFU became a university entitled to China’s Government Grants for Overseas Students, which was followed by the launch of another graduate program that provides scholarship to overseas students under the framework of the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Forest Management Network and offers full range of courses delivered in English. The overseas student education programs now available in BJFU covers that for bachelor, master as well as doctorate degrees. Several high-level conferences and workshops have been sponsored/organized by BJFU, including the International Poplar Conference, the International Workshop on Forestry Education, and the Forum of the Presidents of the Forestry Universities in Asia-Pacific Region. The Secretariat for the Coordinating Mechanism for the Forestry Universities in Asia-Pacific Region is currently situated in BJFU (since 2011).

Cross-Strait exchange & cooperation

Exchange and cooperation between BJFU and its counterpart in Taiwan has witnessed steady development. Cross-Strait Summer Academic Camps have been held regularly each year since 2006, to which over 400 teachers/students from over a dozen universities in Taiwan and over 300 teachers/students from BJFU have attended. In 2011, BJFU and Zhanghua Normal University jointly organized a workshop on teaching to train the young teachers of BJFU, which greatly promoted exchange and cooperation between the youth across the Taiwan Strait.
